Joe Gargiulo — the heart, soul, brain and brawn behind JAG Public Relations — founded his marketing communications firm following a tenure in the Sonoma County wine industry.
He is a product of northern New Jersey, but has resided in the San Francisco Bay Area for all of his adult life. His working-class upbringing instilled him with solid work ethics, a sense of urgency, great resiliency and a commitment to social responsibility.
“Marketing communications is a field that demands a broad sense of awareness, so practitioners must continually educate themselves in economics, politics, healthcare, the environment, technology and so much more,” he says. “I enjoy learning about new things, but my favorite assignment is writing biographies because human lives are like fingerprints, and no two are ever alike.”
Gargiulo studied environmental engineering at Georgia Tech, music at Georgia State, wine marketing and viticulture at Santa Rosa Junior College (AS) and communications at Sonoma State (BA). He also spent 15 years in the food and beverage industry, capping that career in 1993 as the general manager of a blues club.
Away from the office, he enjoys a part-time career as a professional musician, hiking, fixing his fixer-upper, culinary experiments, and watching film noir with his dogs Delilah and Reese.
